FINAL PROJECT SAMSON AND DELILAH (1996 FILM)

Biography for

Nicolas Jack Roeg: He is the director of this 1996 version of the Biblical story of Samson and Delilah. He was born August 15, 1928, in London England,UK. He start out as an editing apprentice in 1947 and worked his way up to cinematographer 12years later. Nicolas Roeg spent 23years in the British film industry and made his first directorial debut in 1970.  He contribute to the visual look of Lawrence of Arabia and Roger Corman's The Masque of the Red death. He went on to co-direct and direct several films. His retrospective included Bad timing, Puffball, Far from the Madding Crowd, The Man Who Fell to Earth, The Witches, Eurecka, Don't Look Now and Insignificance.

Samson and Delilah (1996 film)was a Biblical Narrative story and was tell by Max Von Sydow.


Samson is the Protagonist (Main Character) of the story and he is an Monomyth (Hero). `

The Story is Fiction and came directly from the Holy Bible and was re enact by actors into the movie.

Samson was a given to the Israelis' from God after 40 years of being oppressed by the Philistines . The Israelis' had sin against God and was punished swiftly and without mercy. They were enslaved by the another race of people called the Philistines with hardship for over 40 years. Basically, after 40 year, God decided that the Israelis should be relieve from slavery and oppression. Even though, God punishes His people, it is a test and God wants us to never loose faith in him because he will never abandon us. Lesson was learned by the Israeli people because after 40 years of punishment served, they did not bow their head to false gods. Instead their faith in God grew stronger and God reward them freedom.
         One day in the hot dessert sun, before Samson was born, while working in the field Samson mother saw a single black goat appeared in-front of her and a strange man few feet away. By the time she back up and turn around the man appeared in front of her. He was an Angel send by God to in form her that in order, for the Israeli people to be freed from the Philistines, she will would bear a son who will grow up to be the strongest man alive. Symbolize the alliance with God, Sampson's mother was giving strict order Not to cut Sampson's hair. Before Sampson's mother was confronted by the Angel, she was considered to be barren which means a woman who was unable to bear a child. She was also told not to consumed no unclean food and no strong drink while pregnant Knowing this precious information about the miraculous son she would conceive, Samson mother must Only share it with her husband and no one else. She ran home and told her husband about this joyous miraculous news but her husband was skeptic about her source.
          When Samson was born, only his mother and father knew about the secret about Samson hair and while growing up he was giving the crucial information. He was explain by his parents about his great super natural strength and that he was the miracle God placed on earth to judge over Israel and to cast vengeance on the Philistines tribe. Samson obedience to the Lord was his hair shall not be cut and he should never ever share the Nazi rite Vow at birth with anyone period. Growing up Samson stayed true to his vows and its conditions that he made with God. Samson daily struggle is that, he was not convinced that he really had a purpose, so he preferred to spend his time with the Philistine. Eventually, he fell in love with a Philistine girl and married her and she betray him on the wedding. Later on, he found that reason for her betrayal was black mail from the Philistine Lords whom were plotting to kill him. Samson return to his wife's father compound where he found that both her and her father was killed along with her entire family.           
          On the other, Delilah was constantly coheres and bribe by the King who wanted Samson dead or a live. Delilah was convince that she was the one to bring the strongest man ever to his knees, she settled the deal with riches of goal and silver. Samson first encounter Delilah was in the desert where she was send by the king to bring him back. He found her to be the most beautiful woman and Samson immediately fell for her. They both began to fell passionately in love with each other. Because of, her deals with the lords, her motive was set on finding out what cause him to be so powerful. With her agenda in place, Delilah try to manipulate Samson to tell her the secret of his strength. Her attempts failed 3times. Delilah became frustrated with Samson and told him she was tired of him lying about his powers. Somehow, Delilah worked her charmed with her betrayal, deceptive ways and convinced Samson to tell her the secret of his strength and he did. The next night Delilah cut his hair and Samson was last captured and blinded by the Philistines.
           Unable to see, he became powerless and was enslaved by the kings and force to grind gain at a millstone. During Samson time of capture , he beg God to forgive him and his faith grew strong that his strength was being restore by God. At the celebration of Samson defeat, he was both in to be ridiculed to be the joke and laughing stock to his captors. Samson was chain between two pillars that support the building. unbeknown to the Philistines lords, Samson strength has returned. The entire building came crashing down killing everyone include Samson and Delilah. The ultimate betrayal of a woman was put in effect and completed.
          Delilah sexual seductive ways had cause Samson his strength. Basically a women can be a enchantress to a man. A man is more often physically stronger but a woman sexuality makes a man even betray himself. Overall sexuality of a woman is the uttermost weapon of destruction. take for example, Adam and Eve, Macbeth,Lady Macbeth and today's generation President Clinton and Monica and the Governor Patterson and the call-girl Depree,just to name a few. So,a woman is stronger than a man and in my own terminology DON'T SLEEP ON WOMEN PHYSICAL STRENGTH, SHE MIGHT TAKE THE MOST POWERFUL DOWN WITH SEXUALITY

Samson is not only the Strongest man place on earth by God  Kind, thoughtful and generous Assertive  and tough-minded Resilient, empathic Winner, trusting and caring Visionary and powerful Optimistic and trustworthy Willing to sacrifice and at the same time rebellious and  can be ruthless At time can be Naive, gullible, seduce easily and manipulated                                                          

Philistines lords represent masters of manipulation that inflict pain and sorrow both physically and mentally on the Israelis. The broken sword symbolize defeat

Delilah in this situation represent the devil who tempted Samson and he fell for it


All of Samson fortune and unfortunates was in the Will of God. In the End Samson was made an example by God for us human beings to follow. Basically if we betray God, He will punish us and as long as we find our way back to God, like Samson did and ask for Forgiveness then He will grand us our wishes.
