This class taught me a lot of interesting stuff I never paid attention to. Even blogging, I never used this website before, anyway good to know. Another example of the things I have learned is about Symbols and Archetypes. Watching movies I never pay attention to symbols that appear or archetypes that emerge. Basically never even knew the first thing about looking for Archetypes and symbols in a movie, painting or reading a book. I never understand how people to museum an look at paintings. I probably never gave a painter that much respect, well the knowledge I gain from this class learning how to depict paintings, movies, and book, using symbols and archetypes, gave me a new found respect for these talented people. I might just go to an art gallery the next time I get invited.
Secondly, I was kinder illiterate using the computer and now I know how to search and link my project to the website I am interesting in. Simple as finding a picture on a website and adding it to my work, I now know how to do it. I am very happy I choose this class. This also open my mind to a lot of different topic of the super natural and how the other student view things. Great interaction and working with teammates was an brilliant idea.
I found Benjamin project to be very interested. He made a film like other classmate, but his grab my attention because I was basically fooled. Reason being, at the beginning of his film, the sound track music he made, create a spooky feeling to me, I thought with the dramatic sound effect it would be a short scary film, but it was just about machine that recorded the voices of dead. It was funny to me, how he trick me into watching it by his creative choice of sound track. This interest me to wanting to do it too. Benjamin done a great job, grabbing my attention with something I would be least interested in.
Overall this class was very much a learning experience for me and at the same time it was fun. My thought of thinking is usually on the surface level, but this class having me thinking out the box and more on a deeper level.

Blog Entry 4.1
After watching this movie three time. I realize that I gave myself a lot of work. The movie is 3hours long and each clip I found on youtube about Samson and Delilah is between 8-10min long. No crap! I have to watch at least 10 movie clip, again and again which is 8min long each, finding symbols and archetypes. Well, dag I go a lot of work cut out for myself. Not to mention that I have to research the movie itself and get information on director of the movie. Which I did already but trust me. It not easy to break down a 3hour movie. Oh well at least I challenge myself. Lots of reading and writing I have to do. Hopefully I break it down where it makes sense. Again TEN 8min clips but I will chose 5or 6 of those. Nevertheless, I will do great!

Many of us have our own definition us have our own definition and opinions on what or who is consider an hero. But do we really understand the true meaning of what a hero or heroin is?
Well, In my opinion an hero or heroin is is someone who is selfless, brave and who would sacrifice their own lives to save others. For example and hero could be someone mother or fathers', not necessary strangers. Depending on how good of a parent he or she is.
In the book, "The Hero with a thousand faces", the author Joseph Campbell elements of a hero's journey states, "a hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of super natural wonder". He also went on to say, " the hero come back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boon on his fellow. This statement is perfect in contrast to the adventurous character name Coraline from the book "Coraline". For example the Author Neil Gainman, portray and tell the story of an adventurous little girl name Coraline, who he consider to be brave, mysterious, curious, courageous, fearless, and enjoys exploring.
I depict this book were I came to the judgement that Coraline has an warrior, super hero personality. When Caroline and her parent's move in to the new house, Caroline came upon a mysterious door where she drawn quite a curious feeling about. she then went on to question her mother about the door and got the answer that, the door led to know where but brick wall. In young Coraline curious mind, she had an suspicious feeling about the door. Anyway, Coraline was less interested to be around her parents and wanted more of what consider better parents. They were the type of mother and father who seems to have no quality time for their daughter, but more time consume with their work. Her mother never cooks and her dad tries, but Coraline consider his food and way of cooking to be disgusting. All this add up to where Coraline wishes she had new parents.

This is where author Neil Gaiman comes in and show Coraline adventurous side, where one night the door she was so curious about magically open and without a fearless thought she went through to explore. On the other side of that door she came up on a woman that looks just like her mother and a man who looks like her father. Nevertheless, they were both calling Coraline their daughter and telling her that they were her Other parents. Shortly there after, Coraline began to adjust because the love and attention they were giving her, unfortunately, her real parents wasn't. The food was delicious and well done, all Coraline ever wanted. Coraline knew she had to go home, because in reality she never really wanted new parent, just wanted more love and attention from the real ones.
Coraline other parent other parents did everything great to convince her to stay because the other mother claim she belongs with them. The other mother had other motive for Coraline, she wanted to take Coraline's Soul. Coraline swiftly realize the other mother's plan and escape back through the door. Back at her real home, she found the house empty and her mother and father were no where to be founded. In order to allure Coraline to the other world, the other mother kidnapped Coraline's parents. Realizing that her parents was missing, Coraline made a heroin selfless decision and went back to the other world to save her parents from the evil mother.
Coraline's character is consider a hero because even though she was scared, she went back to face the and showed how brave she were by demanding that the other mother release her parents. With that said, releasing her parents would come that easy, so Coraline had to basically bargin her soul for the release of her parents. Coraline took the risk of sacrificing her soul to save her parents. The deal didnt came easy but that did not stop Coraline, she took the challenge, figure out difficult clues by using monument she have gotten for friends.
Coraline solve the mysterious mystery of her lost parents and at the same time solve and release other lost souls that the evil other mother stole. After all, she got to keep her soul and save her parents. Fabulous forces was encounter and a decisive victory was won. These are elements of a an hero, and Coraline proves she came back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boon on her fellow friends (Joseph Campbell).

Even though, God punishes His people, it is a test and God wants us to never loose faith in him because he will never abandon us. Lesson was learned by the Israeli people because after 40 years of punishment served, they did not bow their head to false gods. Instead their faith in God grew stronger and God reward them freedom.
One day in the hot dessert sun, before Samson was born, while working in the field Samson mother saw a single black goat appeared in-front of her and a strange man few feet away. By the time she back up and turn around the man appeared in front of her. He was an Angel send by God to in form her that in order, for the Israeli people to be freed from the Philistines, she will would bear a son who will grow up to be the strongest man alive. Symbolize the alliance with God, Sampson's mother was giving strict order Not to cut Sampson's hair. Before Sampson's mother was confronted by the Angel, she was considered to be barren which means a woman who was unable to bear a child. Delilah was convince that she was the one to bring the strongest man ever to his knees, she settled the deal with riches of goal and silver. Samson first encounter Delilah was in the desert where she was send by the king to bring him back. He found her to be the most beautiful woman and Samson immediately fell for her. They both began to fell passionately in love with each other. Because of, her deals with the lords, her motive was set on finding out what cause him to be so powerful. With her agenda in place, Delilah try to manipulate Samson to tell her the secret of his strength. Her attempts failed 3times. Delilah became frustrated with Samson and told him she was tired of him lying about his powers. Somehow, Delilah worked her charmed with her betrayal, deceptive ways and convinced Samson to tell her the secret of his strength and he did. The next night Delilah cut his hair and Samson was last captured and blinded by the Philistines.
Unable to see, he became powerless and was enslaved by the kings and force to grind gain at a millstone. During Samson time of capture , he beg God to forgive him and his faith grew strong that his strength was being restore by God. At the celebration of Samson defeat, he was both in to be ridiculed to be the joke and laughing stock to his captors. Samson was chain between two pillars that support the building. unbeknown to the Philistines lords, Samson strength has returned. The entire building came crashing down killing everyone include Samson and Delilah. The ultimate betrayal of a woman was put in effect and completed.

Blog 3.3 Final Project
Well, I have decided for my final project to do something bibical because I love those kind of stories. I found them to be very true and inpirational. I chose "Samson and Delilah". For those who are Christian's or was raised in a Christian setting, would have an idea or know what this story is about. For those who don't I will explain throughtout this process. Basically it about a man who had Super Natural Strenght and was Munipulated and betrayed by an Woman he fell in love with.

Blog Entry 3.2 Don't mention Macbeth - Blackadder - BBC
This short clip depicts how great of an archetype Macbeth is, that even modern days comedians uses him as a prototype for their comedic relief sketches. For many centuries, there is a meth that Macbeth's own superstitions became a curse for future generations of actors to come. Being curse by witches, Macbeth's followers became deeply superstitious about outtering the Macbeth's name. During the reenactmnet of Macbeth plays, we can see how one of the actors knowingly plays a joke of the other actors by mentioning Macbeth's name. The belief is that, if an actor say the name out loud they will evoke the curse of Macbeth's and it brings back luck. From the sixteen centuries on, there were unfortunate circumstances were actors have gotten hurt on set, so from then on the actors would relate each situations with mentioning Macbeth's name. Therefore, rather than uttering Macbeth, they would say the "Scottish play". If anyone say Macbeth's name then they have to do a ritual to exorcise the evil spirits. In the above first scene one of the actor inform main character about the misfortunes that will follow if the actors says Macbeth name. The main character decided to play the joke on the king actors by mentioning Macbeth's name. Each time he say Macbeth, the king actors did a silly ritual to exorcise the curse of mentioning Macbeth. This is perfect example of how the beliefs of witches, meths, and curses passes on from generations to generations. Hilarious, take a look!

Blog Entry 3.1 Macbeth
MACBETH AND HIS WIFE
My interpretation of this picture is that it depicts the power of manipulation which a woman can have a hold over a man. This image of the Lady Macbeth and Macbeth is set in a ghostly setting which exemplify pure evil. The black color could respresent darkness of fear and grey foggy color represent intense inflicted confusion. The knife in Macbeth hands, in this case threatens murder (taking a life). One foot in and one foot out the door showing Macbeth debating his actions of killing the king. Her fingers on her lips symbolizes a knife like slicence, secret (never tell anyone or else) here I sense threats. Lady Macbeth's eyes pops with a deadly stear, again in a treathening way. Macbeth's eyes shrinks with fear commanding to her devious wishes. I assumed Lady Macbeth's was challenging Macbeth's manhood, making him feel weak, powerless, and gutless for not acting in due diligence. Basically in my terminology she is telling him that he is a "wussy". In lady Macbeth's subconcious mind she might be longing to become a queen and thought if the king was dead, along with his son's, then her husband would become king. Which would give her the power and privileges of a queen. The picture also give me an outlook of what might be the image in Macbeth's mind of his wife pressuring him to kill. Due to, intense intimidation and convincing from Macbeth's wife, he proceeds to do evil. The only rational way for Macbeth's wife to resolve her selfish desires' of becoming a queen is through death and if that means her husband has to commit murder, well at that time, so be it. I choose this painting because it stood out for me and gave me a chance to explore my imagination by taking a closer look and conclude my our interpretation.

Blog Entry 2.2
Orphan
Children who are refers to as orphans comes from various situations. In addition, many of them might have lost their parents due to unfortunate circumstances such as war, sickness, disease and some are abandon for unknown reasons.
In this image, we can see a young boy fetching water from a well. I can only imagin what he is thinking. What I get from this is pure innocence from the boy and his way of life. It comes natural for him, everyone he knows does what he is doing. The yellow bucket color represent the sun and with the sun we get sunshine . With that said, the yellow indicate hope in the boy's life. Well, for myself I was fortunate to have both parents, but, this make me sad because it bring back memories has a child growing up in Jamaica. Even though I had both parents, I had vivid memories of living in my words, "slight poverty". Thinking back on my childhood living conditions, it was bad, but it wasn't the worst. Thanks to God. Anyway, their are people I know personally who were worst off, including those I have read about and seeing on television. One who read this should not be sadden for me, I was actually a happy child because that all I knew. I believe the biggest issue thats I can strongly relate to an orphan is a fear of abandonment.

In my opinion, Angelina Jolie is a great example of altruist.
This is a picture of her star, she is an hollywood star. Angelina is consider the most respectable humanitarian heroine and was awarded the best celebrity humanitarian of 2007. Because of her continuous work as a U.N. goodwill ambassador, she command the greatest public respect of all the celebrity do-gooders. Angelina is an adoptive mother of three orphans, who she adopted from three different parts of the world. She constantly tries to raise awareness of the devastating suffering in Africa. In this image the (grey) color indicate her dedication and positiveness. The (white) color represent the pureness and genuine care she has for the less fortunate. Her half naked shoulders signify hunger, pain and suffering for the needy children. The long steer in her eyes, depicts how long before people help these abandon helpless people. I agree with the results of me having an altruist personality because friends, family, sisters and brothers at my church can testify to that. I am kind, friendly, great best friend, and I constantly spend a lot of time volunteering at church, events, the soup kitchen where we hand out food and sometime my personal belongings to the less fortunate. These are jus a few do-gooders things I am apart of and I can justify that I have the personality of Altruist

This is a person who is very selfless, kind, and always quick to give. People love to be around them and definitely look out for their friend. Basically, with altruist personality these people always participate in charitable action.

Blog Entry 2.1 Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti
Christina was born in London December 5, 1830 by Italian parents. Her father, aunt and uncle were poets and writers. She was one of four children and all her siblings were also poets and writers. She began to write at age 7 and at age 14 her dad became very ill which put the family in a huge financial depth. She quit school because she started to suffer from depression. At age 18 she contribute to the literary magazine. In 1862, at age 31, she wrote the “Goblin Market", her most famous poem. Christina had volunteer at St. Mary Magdalene the house of charity from 1859-1870, it was a refuge for former prostitutes. She was known for her romantic, devotional and children's poem. She died December 29, 1894. Christina interpreted her poem has an allegory about temptation and salvation, erotic desire and social redemption. My interpretation after reading the Goblin Market is about drugs, lust, sex, death and redemption.
Goblin Market depicts two young beautiful sisters name Lizzie and Laura, whom in which they live alone in poverty. Every evening before dawn they would go to the river and fetch water. The goblin market is filling with men who usually try to convince women to buy their forbidden fruits. They would call out to women who passed by to come buy their fruits. Lizzie would often warned her sister Laura that the goblin men are evil; the fruits they sell are forbidden. During a regular routine, Laura passes by the goblin men, somehow, was manipulated and persuaded in to buying their fruit. Subdued by the goblin men, Laura was unable pay for the fruit because she had no money, so, instead she took a lock of her beautiful hair. Eager and worried Lizzie waited for Laura to return home. When Laura finally came home, she informed Lizzie on what she have done. Lizzie was totally upset at Laura and reminded her what happen to Jeanie who refused to take heed and bought fruits from the goblin men. Jeanie got very ill and died and no one cared. The next day the sisters when about their daily duty to catch water from the steam and Laura physicality was unable to keep up with Lizzie's. Laura began to get weary and sick. Lizzie started to notice how ill her sister was getting, feeling helpless, she cuddle Laura and they slept in each other harm's. After days, Laura realized she could not hear the goblin men while Lizzie could. Her long beautiful black hair grew gray, has her appearance started to widow away. Poor Laura, did not listened and obey, now she starts to suffer the consequences of her actions. Laura needed more fruits from the goblin men to regain life because her addiction grew, as well as her symptoms. Lizzie wanted to desperately save Laura, so she risked her own life and went to get fruits from the goblin men. During the transaction, the goblin men realize she came with money therefore they got angry and vigorously assaulted her. Those monstrous men inflict force to get Lizzie to eat the fruits. Lizzie happen to escape after they dose her with fruit juices. Devastated and weary, Laura drank the juice off Lizzie and slowly transformed into a newly woman. In the end they both lived and reformed Laura got to tell her detrimental story to her children.
The goblin market is closely related to the story in the Bible about Adam and Eve. For those who are not formula, it is first story in the Book of Genesis about the first two people God created. Adam and Eve who were casted out of the garden because they were warned by God not to eat the apples, but they did anyway after the devil in the form of a snake tempted them to do so.
Lizzie Exude innocence and pureness. She obeys and resisted temptation when pretentious presents itself. She is more like God's Angel in the situation. "We must not look at goblin men, we must not buy their fruits: who knows upon what soil they fed"(42-45). "...No, no, no; their offers should not charm us, their evil gifts would harm us"(64-66). Lizzie is strong emotionally and does not subdue to negative things/temptations. Flood destruction, power, danger, uncontrollable "white and golden Lizzie stood like a lily in a flood"(408-409). As destructive, powerful and dangerous as these men were, Lizzie stood her grounds to be strong and refused to eat or try their forbidden fruits. Laura is a young girl, who seems misguided, naive, looking for love, quickly influence, just like Eve. Her curiosity got the best of her. "Laura rear'd her glossy head, 'look, Lizzie, look, Lizzie (52-54)...' curious Laura chose to linger, wondering at each merchant man"(69-70). With money to buy the fruits, Laura, clip a precious lock, referring to her sexuality that relates to virginity , indeed something she will never get back. She had sex which basically sells her soul to those nasty evil men. The fruits, apple, oranges, grapes, etc in this case are considered the forbidden fruits, "who knows upon what soil they fed their hungry thirsty roots" (45). To eat the unknown or forbidden fruits, will resort to fatal and deadly consequences which happen in Laura's case. Goblin men represent the snake, evil doer who gets people to do devious things which kill their soul. The market is where the evil men sells their forbidden fruits and utter words "come buy, come buy"(4) words of temptations, "sweet to tongue and sound to eye; come buy, come buy " which are words to salivate which equal to irresistibility that Laura falls for. Flowers usually represent beauty, fragility, love, pureness, affection and womb with a sexual connote. But these were poisonous and dangerous. "Ate their fruits and wore their flowers pluck'd from bowers" (150-151). Those evil men took advantage of Laura's innocence and harm her. Fire refers to her lost of essence, light, reaction, birth, life, and death, “To swift decay and burn her fire away" (297-280). Laura became ill, her essence of life begins to dye, she lost her temperature and became cold. She could no longer see the light she saw when she was born, only darkness and death reigns.
In concluding, I believe this poem is actually about two sisters whom Christina Rossetti encountered in the refugee home in 1859-1870. Christian's acquaintance with the two sister must have given her the inspiration to write "Goblin men". One sister got caught up with drugs, results in exchanging sex for the forbidden. I am assuming they were abandon or runner ways at that time whom in which they lived among prostitutes, pimps and drug dealers. One sister values her moral's to stay away from deviant behavior. While the other curiosity landed her into a life of destruction. Basically, the true love of one strong sister conquered evil and redeemed her sister soul back. Growing up, most young teens are rebellious, curious, eager to try and influence easy by negative force. Christina left reader with a message that their will be temptation of peoples faith thats include drugs, lust, sex and death. Unfortunately, the weak will crumble, but, there is always salvation and redemption.

SAINTS and FAITH in the Catholic Church
St. Thesese Of The Child Jesus
As a Catholic and according to my interpretation of Saints, they were the most faithful people that God place on earth. However, they were place earth for me and other believer we should take those Saints live's experience, holy behavior and put in perspective that those people were human beings who portrayed and lived a Christ like behavior. My Spiritual guess is to assume, God's thought was to send those Saint on Earth to be an inspiration to us, to prove the live those Saints lived, we can live too or somewhat close to their traits.
I read about several, but one specific Saint that drew my attention was St. Therese. She is the youngest of all Saints in the Catholic faith. She was born in 1873 and was the youngest of nine children. Her mother died when she was only 4yrs. She was only 24years old when she died on September 30, 1897. Being place on earth for such a short period of time and the tremendous amount of Faith she should in God is amazing to me. At the age of of 14yrs old, St. Therese join the convent. The question on hand is, at 14year, how many young people including myself had God, Faith and being Spiritually Holy on their mine? Majority if not all teen don't go or don't want to go to church much less to join a convent which is basically being married to God. This take Strong Faith and devotion to do what she have done and what really amase me is, how young she was. St. Therese suffered from a severe illness which doctors couldn't diagnose. It affected her bones, liver and gets massive head aches. At the age of 9 she was admitted in the hospital for the illness with no cure because doctors was unable to diagnose. This amazing young 9year old child understand and knew Gods love that she prayed and ask God to deliver her. She kept her Faith in God and one day she looked up at a picture of Mary at her bed side and prayed. immediately she was cured. St Therese described her life as " a little way of spiritual childhood". What I am fascinated with about her is she lived each day with unshakable confidence in God despite how young she was.
On May 17,1925 she was canonized by Pope Pius XI and had she lived she would have been 52years. In 1997, St therese was declared a Doctor of the church by Pope John Paul II and she also has been acclaimed the greatest Saint of Modern times.
What drew me to her, as i said before, is how young she was and proclaimed so much faith and great intimacy with God. Where she lived a hidden life of prayer , Again, so amazingly so young. Her story makes my faith seems as if I am not trying. It encourages me to become more intimate with God, to keep faith no matter what.
